José Mourinho has initiated legal proceedings against Galatasaray Sports Club, following allegations of racist statements attributed to him by the organization.

The accusations, made by Galatasaray after the Istanbul derby on Monday, prompted Fenerbahce, Mr. Mourinho's Turkish club, to issue a statement on Tuesday asserting that his comments had been "completely taken out of context."

On Friday, Fenerbahce announced that Mr. Mourinho, through the club's legal representatives, was filing a lawsuit against Galatasaray for 1,907,000 Turkish Lira, citing "an attack on the personal rights" of the Portuguese coach.

UEFA has imposed a ban on referee David Coote in connection with a video related to Euro 2024.

The amount, approximately £41,000, is symbolic, referencing the founding year of Fenerbahce Sports Club, 1907.

During the post-match press conference following Monday's 0-0 draw, Mr. Mourinho stated that the opposing team's bench had been "jumping like monkeys" and reiterated his criticisms of Turkish referees, asserting that employing a Turkish official would have been "a disaster."

The match was officiated by Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic, as both clubs had requested a foreign official.

On Thursday, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) imposed a four-game ban and a total fine of £35,194 on Mr. Mourinho for two separate disciplinary infractions.

Amber Whiteley has expressed his aspiration to secure the position of Liverpool Football Club manager on a permanent basis.

The TFF cited penalties for "his derogatory and offensive statements towards the Turkish referee" and for "accusing Turkish football of chaos and disorder with insulting and offensive statements towards both the Turkish football community and all Turkish referees."

His comments included statements that "after the big dive in the first minute and their bench jumping like monkeys on the top of the kid... with a Turkish referee you would have a yellow card after one minute and after five minutes I would have to change [substitute] him".

The TFF stated that "the statements used towards the members of the opposing team were contrary to the ethics of sports and the concept of fair play, contained expressions that could encourage violence and disorder in sports, were divisive and separatist in society and could cause fan incidents."
