MANCHESTER CITY: Pep Guardiola mandates that Manchester City players stay overnight at the club’s training base ahead of their Boxing Day encounter with Everton.

Manchester City players stayed overnight at the club’s training facility in preparation for their Boxing Day match against Everton.

After securing just one win in 12 matches across all competitions, Pep Guardiola is eager for his team to regain their title-contending form when they face Everton at home on Boxing Day. With Sean Dyche’s side sitting 15th in the Premier League, this match presents an opportunity for City to end a concerning slump that has seen them drop out of the title race.

In preparation for the game, Guardiola shared his strategy of having the squad stay overnight at the Etihad Campus on Christmas night. The training base features 80 rooms, with the cost of the mattresses and pillows totaling £150,000, as reported by the Daily Mail. <br>Guardiola explained: "We’ll train today (Tuesday), then again tomorrow (Wednesday) evening. We’ll stay here and play on Boxing Day. Hopefully, the players are willing to be here, because it’s our job. This is a new situation for all of us. It’s about all of us; the players are working harder than ever.

"People say we’re not running or fighting, blaming individual players or the manager, but it’s not just that. It’s a combination of small and large factors that have made us less effective than before. However, we have another chance on Boxing Day. With players returning, we’ll be in better shape soon enough."
