Manchester City defender Casparij has finalized a new extended deal to remain with the club long-term.
Manchester City defender Casparij has committed her future to the club by signing a new long-term contract.
Casparij’s journey at Manchester City has been one of consistent progression since joining the club in the summer of 2022. Her standout performances for the Netherlands at UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 paved the way for her arrival, and she has since solidified her role as a key figure in Gareth Taylor’s starting lineup. The 24-year-old defender has already made 65 appearances across all competitions and recently celebrated her first goal for the club, scoring against SKN St. Pölten at The Joie Stadium last week.
Recognizing her growing importance to the team, Manchester City has taken decisive steps to secure her future with a new long-term contract.
Reflecting on her extension, Casparij expressed her delight: “It feels incredible. It was an easy decision—almost immediate—when Charlotte [O’Neill] and Gareth [Taylor] approached me about extending my deal. I was on board straight away. We’re building something special here, and I think we’re on the right path. The Club, the team, and I personally all have ambitious goals, but it’s about taking things one step at a time. Ultimately, we want to achieve success this season, to give the fans—and ourselves—something to celebrate.”
Casparij is expected to play a role in Manchester City’s crucial UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage clash against FC Barcelona on Wednesday evening.
